WE HELP ENHANCE YOUR WORKOUT

The Gentle Art Academy was formed in 2014 with a mission to showcase beauty of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well as demonstrate how it is a tool to enable our students to develop the skills of learning in all aspects of life.

Our success in building strong competition teams comes from deep research and coordination with learning experts on how to best imbue our students with skills necessary to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at a rapid pace and the mindset to perform well in training and external competition.

LEARNING PROFILES

In order to deliver the best training outcomes we need to have a shared language with students and parents so that we are on the same page in terms of long-term development objectives. As such we have developed Learning Profiles for the attributes that we want every student to excel in:

RESILIENCE
CONFIDENCE
TEAMWORK
COMPASSION
RESOURCEFULNESS
AGILE PROBLEM SOLVING
TEACHING PROFILE

Our Coaches similarly are similarly developed with a Teacher Profile in mind which includes, Structure, Compassion Communication and Consistency. Our teaching methodology follows the Learn, Practice, Apply framework which ensures that:

  1. There is a shared language and structures help coaches to craft lessons that are aligned and consistent in approach.
  2. Students/Parents understand the objectives of each class and and use similar structures and language at home when studying and reflecting on the concepts.
  3. Most importantly, having a solid and consistent structure allows each student to know where they are in their learning process at any one time. They begin to develop a sense of metacognition (that is to say they think about their thinking, learn about their learning).
In Practice our Lesson Framework structure looks like this:
